JANUARY 21, 2009 -- Fibre-optic communications specialist Fibre Technologies Ltd (FTL) today announced that it will partner with Finnish service creation and performance management expert Creanord to improve service provisioning and service level agreement (SLA) monitoring for its service provider customers.

Creanord produces the EchoVault SLA element management system (EMS), a performance management and reporting tool that provides service providers with a real-time picture of activity on their networks. In addition to this per-second SLA and quality-of-service (QoS) reporting, the EchoVault SLA EMS has the ability to perform automated RFC-2544 performance testing, providing seamless out-of service or in-service throughput, latency, and packet loss measurement, say Creanord representatives..

This automated SLA and performance testing helps operators reduce network downtime and improve the quality of different classes of service (CoS).

The Creanord software is deployed in conjunction with the Accedian EtherNID and MetroNID Ethernet demarcation devices.

"Partnering with Fibre Technologies to deliver our products in the UK is an exciting development for Creanord," reports Jorma Hämäläinen, president of Creanord. "Ian Hunt and his team have a comprehensive understanding of the industry in the UK, which will help us to ensure we can achieve our desired market share in this country."

"Fibre Technologies is constantly reviewing products in the marketplace to ensure we are providing the most advanced technology to our customers," adds Ian Hunt, managing director of Fibre Technologies. "Combining the Creanord software with the Accedian Ethernet converter provides our clients with the high level of visibility crucial to maintaining the efficiency and performance of their networks," he says.

According to Creanord, the EchoVault SLA EMS:
• Enables automated premium, SLA-backed services with accelerated provisioning;
• Offers services (L2/L3) with flexible bandwidth policing;
• Provides continuous QoS & SLA monitoring per CoS;
• Provides high-precision measurements with 1-micron resolution;
• Validates end-to-end SLA performance without disrupting customer traffic;
• Provides end-to-end OAM visibility; and
• Offers intelligent loop-back functionality.
