LuminentOIC and Fiberxon announce Source Photonics as joint company brand name

Aug. 13, 2007
AUGUST 13, 2007 -- With over 1600 total employees primarily in Taiwan and Mainland China, corporate headquarters in California, and a worldwide sales force, Source Photonics says it is well positioned for future growth in the global optical transceiver market space.

AUGUST 13, 2007 -- LuminentOIC Inc. (search for LuminentOIC) and Fiberxon Inc. (search for Fiberxon), both wholly owned subsidiaries of MRV Communications (search for MRV), today announced that they will be branded under the name Source Photonics. The name change reflects the operation of the two companies as a combined business under a unified management team since MRV closed its acquisition of Fiberxon on July 1, 2007.

According to MRV representatives, the two organizations combine under the Source Photonics brand to offer one of the broadest and most comprehensive portfolios of optical transceivers for access, telecommunications, and data communications networks, shipping more than 1 million transceivers per quarter at current run rates, they claim.

"Selecting a new brand name is an important milestone in the integration of the two companies," contends Near Margalit, CEO of Source Photonics. "The Source Photonics brand represents the combination of two emerging market leaders with complementary products, market presence, and technical capabilities. Under a unified management team, we continue to optimize our supply chain and manufacturing lines, which we believe will reduce the cost of production through economies of scale and increased productivity. We expect that our leading PON transceiver market position; broad portfolio of metro, access, and enterprise transceivers; and our planned continued product innovation will establish Source Photonics as a world wide leader among optical component suppliers," he says.

While the transition is being completed, all LuminentOIC and Fiberxon product lines and customer engagements will continue to be supported without disruption. Going forward, all new product introductions will be made under the new company brand.
