Pioneer Consulting has announced that its engineering team is assisting Crosslake Fibre with design, procurement, and project management of a fiber-optic submarine cable linking Toronto, Canada with Buffalo, NY. The 60-km subsea cable will provide the first route directly across Lake Ontario, Pioneer attests.

Pioneer says its recently released GoCable.io routing software was used to create a desktop study that formed the basis of the marine route survey and route engineering work. That survey, now completed, included bathymetric data and soil samples that will determine the most reliable route for the undersea cable.

Pioneer Consulting is also managing the engineering integration for various scopes of the cable work, as well as overseeing the procurement and integration of the required goods and services in efforts to assist Crosslake Fibre in finding an economically viable system.

"Partnering with Pioneer Consulting and its team of industry specialists has kept this unique project on schedule—we appreciate the support,"said Mike Cunningham, Crosslake Fibre's CEO. "With Pioneer Consulting, Crosslake Fibre looks forward to implementing a regional, high fiber count cable providing lower latency connectivity between Canada and the U.S. on a diverse route compared to the longer solely terrestrial alternatives."Crosslake Fiber plans to connect NJ and NY with fiber-optic submarine cable”).
