Schurz Communications plans acquisition of Ohio-based NKTelco
Schurz Communications announced it will acquire The New Knoxville Telephone Company (NKTelco), adding a sixth broadband business to its communications portfolio. Established in 1905, locally owned NKTelco currently offers data, voice, and video services to residential and business customers in communities throughout West Central Ohio. The company will continue to operate under the NKTelco brand.
“With this support, NKTelco will be able to accelerate plans of expanding its regional fiber network,” says Preston Meyer, general manager of NKTelco. “In addition, we plan to announce gigabit speeds and more cloud-based offerings while continuing to deliver our superior customer service.”
As part of the transaction, Schurz will become owners of NKTelco’s 4.5% investment in Com Net Ink, an Ohio-based communications company. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed and the deal is subject to regulatory approval. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter 2021.
