OMM MEMS-based optical switches pass Telcordia

July 18, 2001--OMM claims to be the first and only manufacturer of MEMS-based photonic switches to meet the standard.

OMM announced that its photonic switching subsystems conform to Telcordia Technologies' environmental and reliability requirements for carrier-class equipment. OMM claims to be the first and only manufacturer of MEMS-based photonic switches to meet the standard.

The OMM-applicable Telcordia analysis subjected OMM switches to an array of tests, including mechanical integrity and endurance. Telcordia conformance is a critical requirement for widespread commercial deployment of MEMS-based photonic switching subsystems within telecommunications networks.

"OMM's MEMS-based photonic switch subsystems now conform to applicable environmental and reliability standards in Telcordia GR-1073-CORE, GR-1221-CORE and GR-468-CORE," said Phil Chapman, President and CEO of OMM, Inc..

In April, 2001, OMM announced that it received ISO 9001 certification for its corporate quality management system.
