CyOptics introduces compact PM-QPSK receivers for 40G and 100G coherent transmission

CyOptics Inc. has announced the availability of its 40-Gbps and 100-Gbps polarization-multiplexed quadrature phase-shift-keying (PM-QPSK) integrated coherent receivers for 40G and 100G coherent DWDM transmission systems.

CyOptics Inc. has announced the availability of its 40-Gbps and 100-Gbps polarization-multiplexed quadrature phase-shift-keying (PM-QPSK) integrated coherent receivers for 40G and 100G coherent DWDM transmission systems. The RX-PMQPSK-40 (40 Gbps) and RX-PMQPSK-100 (100 Gbps) coherent receivers integrate two matched 90° optical hybrids, four high-speed balanced detector pairs, and four differential linear TIAs with manual and automatic gain control.

The receivers also integrate the polarization splitters for signal and local oscillator in a surface-mount package that is 40 mm long and less than 7 mm high.

CyOptics leveraged its InP based balanced photodetector and silica planar lightguide circuit (PLC) device technology for the 90° hybrid mixers. The use of the company’s automated precision-robotic integration platform for mounting the balanced photodetectors directly onto the PLC chip provides a highly integrated optical sub-assembly with high performance in a very small footprint, the company asserts.

The receivers adhere to the Optical Internetworking Forum Implementation Agreement.

CyOptics is ramping production for both the 40G and 100G receiver now with general availability in June 2011.
