NOVEMBER 6, 2008 -- Connexion Technologies, a fiber-optic amenity company, has partnered with the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville to provide entertainment and communications services to The Flats at Kernan, a luxury student housing development adjacent to the university. The service will be provided via an FTTH network that Connexion will build throughout the community.

Located directly across the street from the UNF, the Flats at Kernan is a 192-unit, 480-bedroom, luxury student housing community catering to the students of UNF and nearby Florida Community College. The property includes two- and three-bedroom suites, each complete with Whirlpool appliances, washer and dryer, covered balcony and storage area as well as a private bathroom in each bedroom.

An 8,000-sq-ft community center will include a clubroom with widescreen TV, game room, Internet café, business center, group study room, fitness center, tanning bed, a resort-style swimming pool, lap pool, spa, and Wi-Fi throughout.

"This fiber-optic network will deliver an incredible package of high-speed Internet and television services not yet seen by most in the market," said Will Morgan, president of JDR Communities, developer of The Flats at Kernan. "The beauty of the network is that it will not only meet the current technological needs of our residents, but also their future needs. And best of all, these services are included when you rent at The Flats at Kernan."

"There's a revolution occurring with fiber-optic technology and it's contagious," said Glen Lang, founder of Connexion Technologies. "Residents are starting to demand it. It's no longer a question of if, but when fiber will be in most communities across the U.S."

"As our students' technology demands increase, we know that we're ready to keep up with the pace at The Flats of Kernan," said Morgan. "From online coursework and file sharing to online multi-player gaming, thanks to fiber's unlimited bandwidth, we can always deliver what our students want and need."
