The time to fuse fibers has decreased such that additional reduction in total cycle time must come elsewhere. Therefore, the entire splicing process has been enhanced. AFL’s 90R Fusion Splicer addresses these enhancements with splicer communication between it and preparation equipment, automated operation of transition steps, and splice downtime reductions.
