ZTE Corp. (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ) says it has won a contract to supply 40% of China Telecom’s 2012 broadband equipment procurement project. The company says its percentage is the largest awarded.
The contract covers a wide range of broadband gear, including PON OLTs, FTTB MDU systems, and broadband terminals. In total, China Telecom plans to buy more than 21 million units valued at approximately RMB4 billion.
The equipment purchase comes as China Telecom aims to increase its FTTH user base by 25 million, and to expand its FTTH coverage to more than 55 million households. China Telecom is targeting a total of 100 million users.
"We are honored to continue to support China Telecom in driving national broadband development. With our expertise and experience in FTTH infrastructure, we are dedicated to partnering with leading operators to help them excel,” said Fan Xiaobing, ZTE vice president.
ZTE says its PON sales have enjoyed a more than 30 per cent compound annual growth rate over the past three years, topping both PON and OLT port shipments and market share in 2011.
