23 January 2004 San Diego, CA Lightwave--Pulse, a Technitrol company, today announced the availability of its fiber to the premises (FTTP) offering. The FTTP offering is comprised of RF, LAN, power, and DSL filters, splitter/combiners, inductors and transformers with various configurations to facilitate development of various optical network termination (ONT) designs.
The FTTP offering is designed for use in ONT interfaces to existing coaxial cables, telephone wires, or Ethernet networks found in consumers' homes. End-user applications include items such as voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), television cable connections, plain old telephone system (POTS) circuitry found in voice ports for telephones, and data circuitry found in LAN ports for computers.
FTTP deployment advantages include very high bandwidth to accommodate multiple services at very high speeds including voice, video and data. In addition, optical network connections permit longer distance connections without repeaters (when compared to DSL).
This broad product offering is well suited to support various requirements of FTTP design engineers. For RF components, Pulse offers a comprehensive line of RF magnetics including RF diplexers, splitters, combiners, directional couplers, balun transformers, as well as chip inductors. Many of these products share the same footprint with different electrical performances. This approach allows manufacturers to minimize their development costs as well as maximize their product market coverage.
For power components, the company offers an extensive array of catalog components for board mounted DC-DC power supplies in ONT applications. Examples of power products deployed include planar transformers, flat-wire and multi-phase inductors, and current-sensing magnetics for feedback circuitry.
For LAN components, Pulse also offers a range of transformer modules that can be used in FTTP as well as VoIP applications. Examples that can be deployed for these applications are 10/100BASE-TX and Gigabit products.
The FTTP offering is available for immediate delivery. Contact Pulse directly at 858-674-8100 for samples and volume pricing.
