Vodafone says it has launched a trial of gigabit broadband via fiber to the home (FTTH) in Milton Keynes. The trial will encompass 50 homes in the municipality, before an expected full roll out.

The trial represents the first fruits of the partnership between Vodafone and alternative FTTH infrastructure provider CityFibre (see “Vodafone chooses CityFibre FTTP network for UK broadband delivery”). The collaboration also is targeting Peterborough, where fiber-optic network deployment is underway. Fiber roll out in Aberdeen, Coventry, Edinburgh, Huddersfield, and Stirling will begin soon, according to Vodafone.

Milton Keynes was the site of an earlier BT/Openreach trial of FTTH as well (see “Openreach to trial FTTP in brownfield sites”).
