Acterna (NASDAQ:ACTR) announced a new feature to the Acterna TestPad to help field service technicians improve their ability to turn up and maintain high-speed optical and access network services. Acterna has added scripting capability to the Acterna TestPad SONET Field Services Module (2310) used by service providers.
With the scripting capability, the Acterna TestPad SONET module supports custom test scripts and automated testing applications that can be saved for future use. The feature enables standardization of test procedures to save money while improving the quality of customer service and technician performance as they turn up and maintain service.
In addition to developing test scripts that can map directly into service providers' methods and procedures, Acterna's Global Services and Solutions group will provide "libraries" of test scripts for turning up DS1/DS3 and SONET lines.
The TestPad is certified as standard by Verizon and other service providers. The scripting option for the TestPad SONET module is immediately available in North America.
The Acterna TestPad is a universal, modular field tester engineered to meet the portability and technological requirements of service providers' mobile workforces.
Designed to quickly and accurately provision, troubleshoot, and ensure service for communications technologies, the lightweight tester combines with eight application-specific modules to support and optimize performance of optical, voice and data networks. The TestPad's touch-screen color GUI simplifies testing procedures, and many of the most commonly required applications can be accessed via one-touch testing. Designed for field use, the TestPad features a field-replaceable battery. Modules are tested to ensure endurance to extremes in temperature and motion.
