AUGUST 29, 2006 -- Timbercon Inc. (search Timbercon) recently introduced a new line of fiber-optic cleaning kits to help technicians clean and maintain fiber and connectors in preparation for mating, splicing, and termination.

Timbercon offers several levels of cleaning kits ranging from an economy level kit, for occasional connector cleaning and maintenance, to a complete kit, for frequent cleaning of multiple connector and/or fiber types. The economy kit includes Hydrosorb wipes and solvent in a durable carrying case. The complete kit allows for multiple cleaning methods for any connector type, and includes Cletop type A and B cleaning cassettes, replacement tape, solvent, 1.25-mm and 2-mm swabs, Kim wipes, and Hydrosorb wipes in a convenient carrying case.

"Prior to connecting, splicing or terminating fiber, it is of utmost importance that the fiber and/or connector are clean, free from dirt and residue," explains Sean Gitt, director of marketing for Timbercon. "Whether your application is splicing/termination preparation or routine maintenance, each cleaning kit is designed to provide a simple and efficient means for achieving optimum results."

Timbercon's fiber-optic cleaning kit provides technicians with the materials necessary to ensure that fiber and connectors are properly cleaned and will not be susceptible to the loss that typically occurs when fibers are improperly prepared.
