DECEMBER 12, 2006 -- ZTE Corp. (search for ZTE) has selected Xelerated's (search for Xelerated) Xelerator X11 network processor its next-generation, high-end enterprise and metro Ethernet platform, which already has been committed for deployment by multiple operators to support virtual private network (VPN) and triple-play services.
ZTE says it selected the Xelerated X11 network processor unit (NPU) for this strategic platform because it is user-programmable and offers the flexibility to meet the changing requirements of the metro Ethernet market. ZTE evaluated many network processors and ASICs and decided that Xelerated's X11 NPU best fulfills its performance and feature requirements for triple-play services.
"We are very pleased to have been chosen by ZTE on this vital platform and believe that our X11 NPU and future-generation products will provide ZTE with the flexibility to meet the changing demands of operators globally," contends Bill Franciscovich, Xelerated's vice president of sales.
Xelerated says the X11's unique, highly focused data-flow architecture provides guaranteed line-rate performance with programmable feature flexibility to allow for value-added feature differentiation and to track changing standards.
