Coherent: L-band 800G Pluggable QSFP-DD DCO with High TX Output Power
Coherent’s L-band wavelength-tunable 800G Digital Coherent Optics (DCO) transceiver adds another entire DWDM frequency range of 5 THz to the existing C-band transceiver, which doubles the data capacity from 32 Tbps to 64 Tbps over a single fiber. Hyperscalers and carriers can utilize their scarce fiber resources and save on the expenses of laying new fiber or leasing more fibers. The transceiver supports OIF 800ZR for 120 km Data Center Interconnect applications and the forthcoming OpenZR+ multi-rate 800G/600G/400G for Metro networks with a fiber reach of 500km and longer. The transceiver can connect directly to deployed and emerging ROADM line systems with high transmitter optical output power. The QSFP-DD small form-factor plugs directly into routers for IP-over-DWDM architectures so hyperscalers/carriers can eliminate optical transport equipment and the associated capital and operating expenses.
JUDGE’S COMMENT: “Leveraging the company's internally developed 140-Gbaud IC-TROSA, the module promises a high-performance option for those looking for L-Band 800G.”
