Coherent: Multiport High Resolution OCM
As AI traffic between data centers continues to accelerate, Coherent’s Multiport High Resolution Optical Channel Monitor (HROCM) offers the advancements needed to address these needs. Featuring up to 32 ports and scanning each at 25ms, the Coherent Multiport HROCM can refresh each of up to 32 monitoring points in 800ms, eliminating the need for individual OCMs on each of the fiber pairs. Even considering a common legacy implementation where an OCM is coupled with an external fiber switch to monitor 2 points, Coherent’s Multiport HROCM offers a 16x improvement in power efficiency. Key to its unique performance is an electronically tuned laser that is the local oscillator for its coherent detection system. Coherent’s Multiport High Resolution OCM is not only fully backward compatible but also effectively future-proof for monitoring a full range of signals, including conventional, mixed, and high-order modulation formats. This adaptability can accelerate the deployment of high-capacity multi-rail DCI links, helping hyperscalers unlock new revenue from AI-era traffic growth.
Judge’s comment: “By using an integrated optical switch, Coherent supports multiple channels that can be monitored sequentially in a very compact module.”
