Coherent's 2D VCSEL arrays product is developed for NPO/CPO transceivers, addressing scale-up applications in AI, a fast-growing market for optical transceivers that is gradually replacing copper links. The 2D VCSEL arrays are individually addressable emitters that can be modulated at up to 128G PAM4, enabling a fast, narrow NPO/CPO architecture. Also, a Back Side Emitting (BSE) VCSEL array can also be designed for a more power-efficient wide and slow concept, employing a high number (32) of VCSEL emitters. Flip-chip compatibility simplifies the assembly process and reduces operational expenses. On-chip integrated lenses produce collimated light output, reducing the number of external optical components and lowering product cost.
