Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNSL) said it has introduced its software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) software-based network service that improves network performance and streamlines IT operations by prioritizing traffic throughout the customer's complete network. Consolidated says its SD-WAN delivers straightforward WAN connections management as well as automation.
According to Consolidated, its SD-WAN service consistently manages bandwidth to maintain high-priority applications and important traffic performance at a consistently high-level by detecting the ideal delivery path for traffic in the WAN. The service offers customers guaranteed network uptime and enhanced performance, says the company.
The SD-WAN is supported by a team that assists the customer with understanding their crucial traffic and configuring the offering to meet the unique requirements of the customer's business. Consolidated adds its zero touch operations and "easy maintenance" means customers' IT resources need to spend less time on configuration.
"SD-WAN is an emerging technology that offers businesses reliability and flexibility in connecting their critical branch operations," said Doug Abolt, Consolidated Communications' vice president of commercial product management. "The agility of our solution provides businesses a simple and fast means to custom configure their SD-WAN and prioritize their critical traffic and applications. Deployment is also easy as our SD-WAN offering allows for various deployment options, including cloud-based, software-based, or a hybrid approach."
Consolidated serves businesses, consumers, and wireless companies and carriers throughout a 24-state area using 36,000 route miles of fiber-optic network. Recently, Consolidated announced that it is expanding enterprise business services across Northern New England, including offering residents and businesses several new products and services, in addition to faster broadband speeds and overall network investment (see "Consolidated Communications to boost broadband speeds to over 500,000 New England customers").
