AUGUST 16, 2010 -- MRV Communications Inc. has unveiled version 1.7 of its Pro-Vision software, designed to enhance an operator’s ability to provision Ethernet services by improving performance monitoring and adding device auto-discovery capabilities to MRV’s OptiSwitch Carrier Ethernet access product portfolio.

Pro-Vision is MRV’s carrier-class service provisioning and management platform that offers service providers applications and tools to manage and control large-scale Carrier Ethernet networks. The GUI-based software platform enables service provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting tasks to be performed from an easy-to-use, central network management application.
The software provides the ability to pre-define individual service profile components that can be used to easily build new service offerings and reduce time to revenue. Pro-Vision supports a northbound interface for interconnection with service provider and equipment vendor operations support system (OSS) systems.
“The updated Pro-Vision software enables service providers to handle everyday network management and service provisioning routines more easily, cost efficiently, and flexibly,” says Mary Jane Gruninger, optical communications systems president at MRV. “Service provisioning is faster and easier and offers rapid service delivery combined with end-to-end service visibility."
The Pro-Vision software enhancements extend the support for Ethernet service (E-LAN and EV-LAN) performance monitoring, enabling any-to-any service level agreement (SLA) validation and test measurements. The latest version also adds support for RFC2544 on Ethernet services and class of service (CoS)-based flows, enabling best-in-class testing of throughput, latency, and jitter through an integrated hardware-based throughput tester and traffic generator combined with point-and-click configuration and activation.
Pro-Vision also includes per-service and end-to-end fault detection tools, multiuser security levels, site-wide maintenance, and carrier-class scalability and high availability.
Pro-Vision v1.7 is now available.
