Bezeq taps Ribbon for 400G fiber-optic backbone network

The Apollo systems will leverage 400G ZR+ pluggable optical transceivers as part of their dynamic configurability in support of Bezeq’s nationwide fiber-optic backbone.

Ribbon Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: RBBN) says has supplied elements of its Apollo optical transport and switching systems portfolio to Israeli service provider Bezeq. Israel’s largest telecommunications service provider is deploying the systems to create a 400G flexible-grid DWDM fiber-optic backbone network.

The Apollo systems will leverage 400G ZR+ pluggable optical transceivers as part of their dynamic configurability in support of Bezeq’s nationwide fiber-optic backbone (see "Ribbon adds TM400_2 400G ZR+ line card to Apollo optical transport system" for an example of such capabilities).

“Our network needs to handle today’s traffic and anticipate tomorrow’s,” said Meni Baruch, vice president of engineering and CTIO at Bezeq. “Ribbon offered us the most comprehensive solution, including Day 1 readiness for 400G wavelengths, high scalability, and cost-efficiencies.
