Optical transport equipment developer PacketLight Networks Ltd. has introduced the PL-1000TE optical transponder platform, which is designed to support any service from 100 Mbps up to 16G Fibre Channel in the same unit. It enables eight low-latency, user-configurable, multirate transponders to fit in a single 1U rack.
Optical transport equipment developer PacketLight Networks Ltd. has introduced the PL-1000TE optical transponder platform, which is designed to support any service from 100 Mbps up to 16G Fibre Channel in the same unit. It enables eight low-latency, user-configurable, multirate ports to fit in a single 1U rack. The PL-1000TE CWDM/DWDM will support a variety of services, including Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 10GbE, 1/2/4/8/10/16G Fibre Channel, CPRI, SD/HD-SDI, and STM-1/4/16/64 (OC-3/12/48/192). The transponder therefore enables service providers to start with a mix of low-rate services, then offer upgraded 10G and 16G services by adding the appropriate pluggable optical transceiver modules (SFPs, SFP+). This approach offers maximum scalability at minimum cost, PacketLight says. The transponder platform offers such features as remote management, performance monitoring, 1+1 protection, dual and pluggable power supply, and a pluggable fan unit as well as integrated optical modules such as an EDFA, optical switch, and mux/demux. “With its dynamic service combination and range of service types and protocols, PL-1000TE supports true scalability at minimal cost for current and future needs,” said Koby Reshef, PacketLight’s CEO. “Unique in its architecture for high- capacity, reliable, low-latency data center connectivity, PL-1000TE is an ideal solution for multiple CWDM/DWDM applications for carriers and service providers, dark fiber providers, universities, government entities and municipalities, and enterprises.” For more information on high-speed transmission systems and suppliers, visit the Lightwave Buyer’s Guide.
