Sidera extends Chicago-area network to Elk Grove data centers

Sidera Networks has extended its Chicago metro network to the area’s largest data center park in Elk Grove, IL. Sidera will offer dark fiber and lit services from 100 Mbps to 100 Gbps on this newly constructed fiber-optic network route between Chicago and three different data centers located in Elk Grove Village.

Sidera Networks has extended its Chicago metro network to the area’s largest data center park in Elk Grove, IL. Sidera will offer dark fiber and lit services from 100 Mbps to 100 Gbps on this newly constructed fiber-optic network route between Chicago and three different data centers located in Elk Grove Village.

The Chicago-metro market serves as a major financial and content hub centrally located between the east and west coasts of the United States. Data centers in Aurora, Wood Dale, and Elk Grove serve large enterprises, financial institutions, and media organizations that require high-capacity bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and diverse connectivity. Sidera's new network route traverses north from Chicago to deliver dedicated fiber to three data centers located within a 1-mile radius in Elk Grove.

In addition, Sidera will soon connect Elk Grove to Aurora to complete a fiber ring from Chicago to Elk Grove, down to Aurora and back to Chicago, as shown on this map: http://www.sidera.net/network-solutions/cloud-data-center-connectivity/chicago-metro/.

Sidera's network between Chicago and Elk Grove delivers high-capacity connectivity to the largest consolidated business park in North America and interconnects three major data center facilities including Equinix (CH3), DuPont Fabros Technology (CH1), and Savvis (CH3). Additional network connectivity to data centers in Wood Dale is planned, the company adds.

The company also recently announced that it would merge with Lightower to create a company with an extensive fiber footprint (see “Lightower Fiber Networks, Sidera Networks to merge”).
