Brazilian telecommunications services company Tely has deployed Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform to boost the capacity of its fiber-optic network while cutting capex and opex, asserts the optical technology company. Infinera added the Groove G30 to its optical transport portfolio when it acquired Coriant (see “Infinera closes Coriant acquisition”).

Tely serves enterprises, service providers, Tier 1 carriers, and residential customers throughout Brazil’s major northeastern states and in São Paulo. It offers GPON-based broadband, dedicated internet, and LAN-to-LAN interconnect services. To meet growing bandwidth demands, Tely has deployed the Groove G30 within in states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Paraíba, Sergipe and Bahia. The newly installed optical network systems support transmission of 100-Gbps and 200-Gbps interconnect services. Infinera says use of the Groove G30 has increased network capacity 20X while reducing opex and capex by up to 40%.

“To address the rising volumes of customer traffic and continue to deliver the highest quality of service across the markets we serve, we required a best-in-class optical transport solution that met key performance criteria including economical scalability and ease of deployment,” said Leonardo Stefanis Lins, CEO at Tely. “The ultra-compact and innovative modular design of the Groove G30 proved an ideal fit, meeting these critical needs while simplifying the provisioning of high-speed services.”

Infinera recently announced additional features for the Groove G30, which it said underscored its commitment to the product (see "Infinera adds new features to Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform").
