Indiana Fiber Network selects Tekelec's SS7 signaling platform
April 26, 2005 Morrisville, NC -- Indiana Fiber Network (IFN) has signed a contract to deploy Tekelec's EAGLE 5 Signaling Applications System (SAS). According to a press release, the platform will enable IFN to deliver signaling system 7 (SS7) functionality, with benefits including reliable call control and network security, to its statewide operator customers.
Founded in 2002, IFN owns and manages a fiber-optic network used by a consortium of 19 independent Indiana telephone companies to deliver voice, video, and data services throughout the state. Tekelec is a developer of telecommunications products for fixed, mobile, and packet networks.
The company says its EAGLE 5 SAS a multi-protocol, advanced signaling system that provides a support path for services such as local number portability (LNP), toll-free and calling card capabilities, calling name delivery, and mobility management. In addition, the company says the platform's gateway screening functionality ensures security by limiting inbound and outbound network access to authorized users. According to the company, the system's support for the Sigtran suite of signaling protocols will enable next-generation network connectivity, including packet telephony and 3G networks.
