BroadLight, Realtek offer GPON and Active Ethernet FTTH reference design
JANUARY 15, 2010 -- GPON chip electronics and software supplier BroadLight says it is collaborating with Realtek Communications to provide complete, turnkey reference platforms that integrate BroadLight’s GPON and Active Ethernet (AE) processor technology with Realtek’s Ethernet switching technology. The result, says BroadLight, is a single platform that can address both GPON and AE CPE applications for a variety of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments.
Thanks to the companies’ strategic alliance, Realtek’s customers can enjoy the fast time-to-market and performance of Realtek’s RTL8366 and RTL8367 integrated with BroadLight’s GPON and AE processor, BroadLight adds.
“By complementing our industry-leading GPON processors with Realtek’s RTL8366 and RTL8367 highly integrated Ethernet switches, equipment suppliers can easily build a dual-purpose FTTH CPE while maintaining a single hardware and software application platform,” said Doron Tal, vice president of business development and product management at BroadLight. “FTTH’s speed with BroadLight integrated network processor enables high-speed triple-play services with uncompromising quality.”
