Jisc to upgrade Janet research and education network with GTT Communications

U.S.-based multinational cloud networking provider GTT Communications, Inc. (NYSE: GTT) says it will deliver internet services to Jisc, which operates the Janet research and education network that supports approximately 18 million UK college and university users. GTT initially will provide up to 120 Gbps of internet capacity; the contract offers a path to to further upgrades as Jisc's requirements increase.

U.S.-based multinational cloud networking provider GTT Communications, Inc. (NYSE: GTT) says it will deliver internet services to Jisc, which operates the Janet research and education network that supports approximately 18 million UK college and university users (see "Ciena to supply 100-Gbps systems for Janet6 research and education network"). GTT initially will provide up to 120 Gbps of internet capacity; the contract offers a path to to further upgrades as Jisc's requirements increase.

GTT operates a Tier 1 global IP backbone that it says is ranked in the top five globally. The company's infrastructure connects with more than 300 points of presence.
