The company says the regional office, located in Shanghai's West Gate Tower, is strategically positioned to provide business development, product introduction, and technical support functions to current and prospective customers in the China and Asia Pacific Regions.

The company says the regional office, located in Shanghai's West Gate Tower, is strategically positioned to provide business development, product introduction, and technical support functions to current and prospective customers in the China and Asia Pacific Regions.

The company has been distributing products in China since it was founded in 2000, and says that the office will provide its customers with a single point of contact, while allowing it to provide more responsive technical and logistic support.

"Establishing the office in China reinforces Opnext's commitment to the region: it provides greater proximity to our current and prospective customers, while allowing us to have a better understanding of their needs," remarks Chris Lin, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Opnext.

The company's optical components and devices are designed for applications in the access communications, backbone, metro, information, and industrial markets.
