16 October 2002 -- Opto Speed - a developer and manufacturer of indium phosphide-based optoelectronic components based in Ruschlikon, Switzerland - says it is entering a distribution agreement with EL-GEV Electronics Ltd, an Israeli distributor of electronic and optoelectronic components and subassemblies.
EL-GEV will distribute Opto Speed's family of high-speed lasers, photodetectors, monolithically integrated PIN/TIA/Postamp optical front-ends, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) and superluminescent light emitting diodes (SLEDs).
"EL-GEV's profound technical and application knowledge provides customers in regional industrial, military and aerospace markets with easy access to our product families," says Jean Brunol, CEO of Opto Speed.
Opto Speed offers transceiver makers a complementary set of 2.5, 10 and 40Gbit/s photodetectors, Fabry Perot and DFB lasers at both 1300 and 1550nm wavelengths as well as 1300 and 1550nm SOAs. The company also designs and manufactures high-power, high-bandwidth SLEDs for applications in communications as well as the medical, lighting and test & measurement sectors. Opto Speed has also developed an integrated Optical Front End, which combines a 40Gbit/s photodiode with electronic transimpedance and post-amplifiers with differential output monolithically integrated on a single indium phosphide chip - one of the first commercially available monolithically integrated optical components.
