Fox Electronics, an IDT company, has unveiled the FTM Series of surface-mount oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXOs). Systems designers can use the SMD devices as the timing reference for network synchronization for such applications as PON equipment, DSLAMs, gateways, multiservice switching platform and transmission equipment, base stations, radio network controllers, mobile backhaul equipment, and routers.

The FTM Series oscillators provides a standard stability of ±10 ppb across a set of standard frequencies in the 5-MHz to 40-MHz range with temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. Stabilities as tight as ±5 ppb are achievable, depending on operating conditions, Fox says. A frequency control pin enables a minimum of ±0.7 ppm of frequency adjustment.

The SMD oscillator comes with a 3.3-Vdc supply voltage, with 5 Vdc as an option, and operates at a maximum of 1.2 W at 25°C. Output load is typically 15 pF and long-term aging over 10 years is 0.4 ppm for all effects, Fox adds.

Available as a simple tape and reel assembly, the FTM Series is designed to be incorporated into any automated production line. Each OCXO weighs 5.7 g and comes with a gold termination finish.

Pricing and delivery of the FTM Series SMD OCXOs is dependent on quantities ordered.
