u2t Photonics offers 64-Gbaud coherent photodetector

u²t Photonics AG has added what it asserts is the fastest coherent photodetector on the market to its line of coherent components. The CPDV1200R supports up to 64 Gbaud for use in designs targeting 400-Gbps or 1-Tbps optical transmission applications based on coherent detection.

u²t Photonics AG has added what it asserts is the fastest coherent photodetector on the market to its line of coherent components. The CPDV1200R supports up to 64 Gbaud for use in designs targeting 400-Gbps or 1-Tbps optical transmission applications based on coherent detection.

The CPDV1200R coherent detector module comprises a polarization diversity network as well as two 90° hybrids and four balanced photodiode pairs monolithically integrated on InP.

The optical frontend, with four coaxial single-ended outputs and a typical bandwidth of 40 GHz, can detect up to 64-Gbaud polarization diversity x-QAM signals featuring high common mode rejection ratio and extremely low inter-polarization skew of less than 2 ps, u²t asserts. Such performance makes the device suitable not only for optical transmission requirements but for optical test and measurement applications and ongoing R&D activities as well, the company adds

u²t says it will start sampling the product in March 2012.
