MULTIPLEXER-ATTENUATOR

Feb. 1, 2001

An integrated multiplexer and variable optical attenuator combines a 40-channel arrayed waveguide grating with a 40-channel VOA, allowing control of the power level in each optical channel. Internal electronics, including a microprocessor control function, allow the device to be integrated into end equipment. The device operates on the C-band and L-band grids.
