Enablence and Kotura ink cooperation agreement for silicon triplexers
SEPTEMBER 19, 2006 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. (search Enablence), developer of Fiber-to-the-Home modems, and Kotura Inc. (search Kotura), supplier of silicon integrated opto-electronic products, have entered into a cooperation agreement for the development of triplexer (search triplexer) chips fabricated on silicon wafers using Enablence's proprietary Dispersion Bridge technology.
"Enablence is pleased to further our relationship with Kotura," reports Arvind Chhatbar, the chief executive officer of Enablence Technologies. "We believe that our triplexer chips can be manufactured in volume using standard CMOS processes. The migration to CMOS optical wafers will ensure that Enablence will continue to maintain a leadership in this field for the long term."
"Our companies naturally complement each other," adds Jean-Louis Malinge, Kotura's CEO. "Enablence has significant expertise in designing photonics integrated circuits in glass, while Kotura has significant expertise in designing and manufacturing optical components using standard CMOS processes."
Silicon-based Triplexers will be used in FTTH networks, which provide bundled digital voice, data, and video services to residential subscribers.
