CyOptics intros 4-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel TOSA for 80 km, ships 2.5-Gbit/sec DWDM SFP TOSA

July 18, 2006 Breinigsville, PA -- CyOptics Inc. today announced the availability of its transmit optical subassembly (TOSA) for 4-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel transceiver applications up to 80 km. The 4-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel standard boosts the performance of storage area networks (SANs) by doubling the speed while maintaining backward-compatibility with 1- and 2-Gbit/sec systems.

"The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) has stated that the market acceptance of 4G Fibre Channel is at an all-time high," said Ali Abouzari, VP sales for CyOptics. "The CyOptics TOSA will further enable this application to address longer-reach criteria."

CyOptics also announced volume production of its 2.5-Gbit/sec DWDM TOSA for use in small-form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers. This TOSA, which enables 100-GHz channel spacing, is fully qualified and addresses CWDM and both the C and L bands.

"Our 2.5G TOSA is recognized for its industry-leading wavelength stability and low power consumption," said Abouzari. "The performance of this device is validated by the multiple customer design wins we have already received."

All TOSA products are manufactured on CyOptics' proprietary automation packaging platform, which the company says ensures the highest quality and reliability at the lowest cost. In addition, the TOSA product family meets RoHS environmental compliance requirements.
