NEC ships 2.5-Gbit/sec detector modules available in coaxial and ROSA packages
NEC's 2.5-Gbit/sec detector module in a 4.6-mm diameter ROSA package features an LC-style receptacle with a pluggable fiber-to-laser interface.
23 January 2004 Santa Clara, CA Lightwave -- California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) has announced the availability of a new series of 2.5-Gbit/sec fiber-optic detector modules from NEC. Included are avalanche photodiode (APD) and PIN detectors, both of which feature an integrated 3.3V low-noise GaAs transimpedance amplifier (TIA). Both APD and PIN versions are available in either coaxial packages for metro and access networks, or in low cost receive optical sub-assembly (ROSA) packages for small-form-factor and small-form-factor pluggable transceivers. The modules feature a variety of pin-out options. The 4.6-mm diameter ROSA package features an LC-style receptacle with a pluggable fiber-to-laser interface that ensures a fixed optical coupling. All modules feature DC-coupled differential output and high overload characteristics. Available now, these new detectors join CEL's family of NEC fiber-optic products.
