Microchip Technology: META-DX2+ 1.6T Ethernet PHY with Security and Aggregation

Feb. 7, 2023
Microchip Technology’s META-DX2+ 1.6-Tbps Ethernet PHY supports up to 1.6 Tbps of capacity with 112G long-reach SerDes.
Microchip Technology’s META-DX2+ 1.6-Tbps Ethernet PHY supports up to 1.6 Tbps of capacity with 112G long-reach SerDes. The 1.6-Tbps capacity is double that of previous devices, says the company. The PHY integrates both MACsec and IPSec at full line-rate, enabling customers to add encryption without the need for the separate processors that have traditionally been required for IPSec. META-DX2+ also integrates XpandIO, which enables port aggregation of low-rate Ethernet clients over higher-speed Ethernet interfaces. The META-DX2+ 112G long reach SerDes can support Ethernet, OTN, and proprietary rates that are used in AI/ML applications. The devices within the family are also configurable to reduce power when used for lower rates or shorter channels.

Judge’s Comment: “1.6T Ethernet PHY and gearbox device offering integrated Layer 2 and Layer 3 encryption, 25G port aggregation and hitless switching configurations. Versatile coverage of a range of aggregation and Ethernet switching use cases.”
