High-speed optical module vendor Effdon plans to show a range of 100-Gbps transceivers at OFC 2014 in San Francisco. The company will display in Booth 4651 pluggable optical transceivers for both line-side and client-side applications, and will discuss line card configurations that can accommodate 400 Gbps.

On the line side, Effdon will offer 100G CFP modules that will support 40 km and 80 km reach. The company foresees the transceivers supporting data center Interconnect and LTE applications. The new ER and ZR 100G modules are compatible with the 100G CFP MSA; they offer 10:1 cost savings versus alternatives that would require additional external equipment to meet 80-km requirements, the company asserts. Effdon is taking orders for samples today, with a goal of general availability by this June.

For the client side, Effdon's new 100G CFP4 and QSFP28 modules are targeted at data center networks as well as campus and enterprises applications. They will support transmission distances up to 10 km. These transceivers will be available for sampling by this July, Effdon says.

Finally, Effdon also will discuss the availability of its long-reach transmission technology in line card form and in 1RU 400G Reach Extension systems.
