August 1, 2006 Tokyo -- Fujitsu Limited will open a European business support center for its optical components products based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in addition to an existing facility located in San Jose, CA. The company also is creating a new sales support organization in Singapore to handle the Asian market. The two new sales support sites will begin operations today.

Fujitsu's line of optical components, which includes 300-pin Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) transponders, 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable (XFP) and Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) MSA transceivers, optical transceivers for passive optical networks (PONs), Lithium Niobate (LN) external modulators, and a variable chromatic dispersion compensator using Virtually Imaged Phased Array (VIPA) technology, already is available to customers in global markets. To strengthen sales support for its customers' global business development, Fujitsu's overseas affiliates now will act as sales channels for these devices. Technical support for optical components products also will be provided by the specialized business support centers in the US and Europe.

Going forward, in step with market demand, a full business support center also is planned in Asia.
