Padtec offers ROPA C+ for ultra-long distance fiber network applications
Brazil-based Padtec has unveiled the ROPA (Remote Optically Pumped Amplifier) C+. The company says ROPA amplifier system will support high-speed wavelength transmission over “very long distances,” which obviates the need for intermediate regeneration stations.
The ROPA C+ will support transmission over greater than 300 km, which Padtec asserts is up to 3X the reach conventional amplification systems can enable. The ROPA C+ is part of Padtec's family of optical amplifiers that includes EDFAs, Raman, and what the company says are the most compact EDFA/Raman hybrid models available.
“Padtec is one of the few companies in the world that controls the process of developing and producing optical amplifiers. With this project, the intention is to continue to evolve and, thus, maintain our position of technological leadership in this segment,” commented Manuel Andrade, Padtec North America’s CEO.
