Ciena’s Waveserver 5 in 2021 offered the industry’s first 800G wire-speed encryption solution as well as support for 400ZR pluggable coherent applications -- generally available and shipping.
Introduced in early 2020, Ciena’s Waveserver 5 in 2021 offered the industry’s first 800G wire-speed encryption solution as well as support for 400ZR pluggable coherent applications -- generally available and shipping. Each encryption module provides two encrypted 800G line ports and sixteen 100G client ports (QSFP28), with four ports also supporting 400G clients (QSFP-DD) for a total of 1.6T of encrypted capacity per module and 6.4T of encrypted capacity per Waveserver 5 – the highest encryption capacity of any platform, Ciena asserts.

Judge’s Comment: “Ciena is the only NEM that has been able to deliver 800G products reliably. The Waveserver 5 helps deployment of higher bandwidth with more secure connections.”
