Marvell: Alaska® A PAM4 DSP Family for Active Electrical Cables

Feb. 7, 2023
Marvell’s Alaska A PAM4 DSP family are high-performance 400G/800G active electrical cable (AEC) devices that address emerging 100G/lane adoption in cloud data center interconnect architectures.
Marvell’s Alaska A PAM4 DSP family are high-performance 400G/800G active electrical cable (AEC) devices that address emerging 100G/lane adoption in cloud data center interconnect architectures. At these speeds, the physical reach achievable with passive direct attach cables (DACs) falls short of the distance requirements for server-to-top-of-rack and switch-to-switch interconnects. For cloud operators to continue their routine data center bandwidth doubling, most of these interconnects must transition from DAC to AEC. The Alaska A PAM4 DSP family enables cable manufacturers to deliver optimized AECs that meet the unique and diverse requirements of leading cloud data center operators.

Judge’s Comment: “The transition from DAC to AEC is expected to significantly accelerate with the capabilities this chip provides being central.”
