FCC Wants PSTN to Go All-IP

According to a statement by FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai, the Commission wants to sunset the existing public switched telephone network (PSTN) in 2018 and switch to all-IP infrastructure. In January, the FCC plans to consider an All-IP Pilot Program to provide real-world data about transitioning from TDM to IP.
