AT&T (NYSE:T) is expanding the availability of its AT&T Fiber gigabit Internet service in the Louisville, KY, metro area. The service, which first launched in the area last October, is now available in parts of Jeffersonville and New Albany, IN, across the Ohio River from Louisville.
Earlier this week, the company launched the FTTH service in Milwaukee and Columbia, SC. AT&T plans to have the service live in 51 metro areas by the end of the month and 67 by the end of the year. The telco says it currently offers it to nearly 4 million locations nationwide and further plans to reach at least 12.5 million locations by mid-2019.
Pricing for standalone AT&T Internet 1000 gigabit service starts at $80 a month with a 12-month contract, after which it goes up to $119 a month. Bundles with video and voice service are also available.
"Our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways," said AT&T Indiana President Bill Soards. "They're streaming content directly from their devices, and interacting with family and friends through live videos. For these reasons, we're continuing to expand the availability of our fastest internet speeds to more communities, including New Albany and Jeffersonville."
