AT&T (NYSE:T) is now offering its AT&T Fiber service in parts of central Kentucky, including in parts of Georgetown and surrounding communities. It's available to homes, apartments and small business locations.

The fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service is based on near-gigabit (typical downstream throughput is 940 Mbps, the company says) Internet service, either standalone or bundled with voice and/or video from DirecTV or AT&T's U-verse video. AT&T Internet 1000 is $70 a month in a bundle or $80 a month standalone for the first year. After 12 months, price moves up to $90 a month.

"Our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways," said Hood Harris, president, AT&T Kentucky. "A growing number of people are streaming content directly from their devices, and interacting with family and friends through live videos. For these reasons, we're continuing to expand the availability of our fastest Internet speeds to more locations throughout the Commonwealth."

AT&T Fiber is available in more than 6 million locations across 62 metro areas, most recently in parts of Columbus and Macon, GA. The company plans to reach at least 12.5 million locations by mid-2019.
