ADVA Optical Networking has acquired an engineering division from technology incubator mic AG. The team of engineers is specifically focused on the development of optical monitoring technology in fiber networks. The acquisition is intended to help ADVA advance its FSP 3000 Access Link Monitoring (ALM) product. The new team members will be based in ADVA's Meiningen, Germany, campus and will begin work as soon as the acquisition is finalized.

The FSP 3000 ALM operates independently of data networking equipment. The separation of fiber monitoring from services and applications is designed to enable the device to monitor fiber access networks regardless of the bitrate and protocol the overlaying service is using.
