Ciena: 5131 Platform

Sept. 8, 2022
Ciena’s 5131 weatherized router is purpose-built for 5G networks that converge 5G/5G fronthaul, midhaul, and backhaul (xHaul) networks onto a common, simpler infrastructure.
Ciena’s 5131 weatherized router is purpose-built for 5G networks that converge 5G/5G fronthaul, midhaul, and backhaul (xHaul) networks onto a common, simpler infrastructure. With dense 1/10/25GbE/10G PON to 100GbE aggregation and support for both soft and hard network slicing (FlexEthernet), the extended-temperature 5131 is the ideal platform to simplify and de-risk the unique 4G to 5G journeys of wholesale operators and advanced 10G PON access, asserts Ciena.

Judge’s Comment: “In a cable network, this platform would be useful for aggregating access facilities including remote MAC/PHY, PON, and Metro Ethernet.”
