Luminous Networks appoints president of Luminous China to lead the company's expanding market presence

21 July 2003 Cupertino, CA Lightwave-- Luminous Networks, a provider of multi-service transport platforms that support voice, data, video, and wavelength services, announced today that it has appointed Yudan Jin as general manager and president of Luminous China. This appointment is the latest announcement marking Luminous' continued growth in the region.

This appointment is the latest announcement marking Luminous' continued growth in the region.

With its China headquarters in Shanghai, Luminous recently opened a new sales and support office in Beijing. Luminous customers include the largest telecommunications carriers in China, according to the company. In addition, the Shanghai Stock Exchange is running live traffic across Luminous PacketWave platforms. PacketWave optical access switches, based on Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) technology, enable delivery of Ethernet data services, toll-quality voice, and interactive video services on a single, efficient platform.

"We are pleased to announce the appointment of Yudan Jin to the post of general manager and president of Luminous China," said Alex Naqvi, president and chief executive officer of Luminous Networks. "China continues to be an area of accelerated growth in the telecom industry. Mr. Jin will lead the Luminous China team in executing on our major initiatives in the area. They include expanding our channel and customer base, support and service infrastructure as well as driving the manufacturing process of Luminous products in the country."

Mr. Jin has more than 20 years of experience in the telecom networking industry. Most recently, he was the president of Marconi Corporation, Asia Pacific. He was instrumental in turning the Marconi operations in the Asia Pacific region profitable during his tenure. Prior to Marconi, Mr. Jin served as president of Asia Pacific operations for FORE Systems. He has also held several senior level positions at 3Com, Beijing, China Hewlett-Packard and the Ministry of Electronic Industry (MEI). Mr. Jin obtained a BS in Computer Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing and a graduate degree in Computer Networking from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Executive Program from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Champagne-Urbana.

Luminous is shipping products for revenue to major telecommunications carriers, cable service providers, and enterprise customers in the U.S. and international markets.
