June 2, 2004 San Jose, CA -- Electronics contract manufacturing services company Sanmina-SCI Corp. and Kailight Photonics, developer of all-optical signal regeneration and wavelength conversion technology, have agreed to jointly design, industrialize, manufacture, and market Kailight's Tunable All-optical Signal Regeneration (TASR) product line.
In support of this joint effort, the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation has approved a $1.0 million investment.
Kailight's TASR line of modules provides fast-switching, tunable, all-optical solutions designed to operate within optical regenerators, switches, routers, add/drop multiplexers and cross-connects at bit-rates ranging from 1Gbit/sec to 42.5 Gbits/sec. The TASR line also delivers bit-rate and protocol transparency while reducing network transmissions costs, say company representatives.
"We have proved that our TASR technology exceeds the stringent performance criteria for today's gigabit networks," asserts Sagie Tsadka, CEO of Kailight. "As we now focus on moving our advanced optical technology from the laboratory into the global market, our Sanmina-SCI partnership will ensure that the TASR product line will meet the highest levels of quality and reliability for both current and next-generation product designs."
