4 August 2003 London, Beijing -- Extreme Networks is partnering with China's leading IT company, Legend Group to double its presence in China. The pair say they will provide enterprise customers with co-branded high performance networking systems with the industry's "lowest total cost of ownership".
"This type of partnership is one of the steps Extreme is undertaking to strengthen its position as a dominant networking vendor," said Chris Todd, senior VP of worldwide sales for Extreme Networks. "Network users in China will benefit from this partnership."
Extreme entered the Chinese market in early 2000 and has since established offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. The company localised its products to ensure compatibility within the new market.
The company operates across all of China providing leading universities and businesses with high performance networks, including such notable organisations as Shanghai Jiao Tong Universities, Beijng University of Post & Telecommunication; Beijing Tsing Hua University; China Telecom, China Netcom and the Lai Zhou Steel Group.
As one of the leading companies in China's IT industry, Legend offers a wide range of products addressing consumer and commercial enterprise markets. Ranked as the number one supplier by sales volume in the Asian PC market, Legend has also established a leading position in other key segments of IT.
For example, Legend's Wanquan Server solution was ranked seventh in the global server market and its Trillion type high-performance clustered computing platform is utilised for the Chinese government's State 863 project, for the research and development of high technology.

Extreme and Legend will also partner to sell co-branded switching systems featuring scalable 10 Gigabit Ethernet with support for IPv6 technology and advanced bandwidth management with Quality of Service.
