Aligned Data Centers closes ODATA buy

May 23, 2023
ODATA operates data centers in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico and has additional data centers currently under development across Latin America.

Aligned Data Centers says it has completed the purchase of Latin American data center provider ODATA. ODATA will operate as ODATA, an Aligned Data Centers Company, led by CEO Ricardo Alário. Terms of the deal, announced last year, were not disclosed.

ODATA operates data centers in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico and has additional data centers currently under development across Latin America. The acquisition of ODATA gives Aligned a footprint in the Americas that provides more than 2.5 GW of aggregated critical capacity across over 40 data centers at full buildout.

“Driven largely by the needs of hyperscale companies, cloud service providers, and government customers, the demand for energy-efficient and scalable infrastructure continues its upward trajectory across Latin America,” said Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned Data Centers. “Joining forces with an incumbent data center provider whose focus on strategic scale, thoughtful innovation, and sustainable design could not be better timed.”

“Our customers will continue to receive the same reliable, scalable, and flexible data center solutions they have come to expect as we continue our commitment to operational excellence in what represents an exciting new era of growth for both organizations,” asserted Alário. “The acquisition immediately expands not only our data center infrastructure and capacity portfolio, but the capital and capabilities to help our customers grow at scale across the Americas, supported by an advanced supply chain methodology and refined land and power-first strategy that accelerate speed-to-market at a velocity that is otherwise unknown in our business.”
