Amphenol Network Solutions unveils FlexTrax vertical cable management line

Amphenol Network Solutions has announced FlexTrax, a vertical cable management aide for routing fiber-optic cable from overhead troughs to equipment cabinets and racks in data centers, central offices, headends, and similar sites.

Once FlexTrax is connected to the overhead trough using standard mounting brackets, users route fiber inside the adjustable FlexTrax path, then close attached gates to securely protect the fiber cable. FlexTrax, durable and sold by the foot, offers simple cable exits to network equipment from multiple locations and is compatible with all standard trough systems and equipment racks and cabinets, Amphenol asserts.

Amphenol says the FlexTrax design significantly reduces the chances of pinching, bending, or otherwise damaging fiber during and after installation. The company says FlexTrax offers a better alternative than such typical approaches as slotted duct and split tubing. “In addition to less effective components, a typical installation also requires adapters to combine slotted duct and flexible tube,” said Bert Powel, product manager at Amphenol Network Solutions. “FlexTrax eliminates the complexity and cost of this approach and provides a more secure, protective path for fiber that’s significantly easier and safer to install.”
